CHP's Mullaoğlu's Syria statement! "There are massacres that will challenge the human mind"

A panel titled “Alevis and Political Situation in Türkiye and Syria” was organized by Samsun Pir Sultan Abdal Culture Association and Cemevi at Atakum Municipality Hasan Ali Yücel Youth and Science Center. Alevi Bektaşi Federation General President Mustafa Aslan, 27th Term HDP Deputy Ali Kenanoğlu and CHP Hatay Deputy Servet Mullaoğlu were the speakers at the panel.

The first speech at the panel was made by Alevi Bektashi Federation Chairman Mustafa Aslan. Stating that different faiths and ethnic groups were being targeted in Syria, Aslan said, “Alawites, Druze, Sunnis, Christians living in Syria... in order for Syria to be divided, they first had to turn the people against each other. They had to create an enemy for themselves.”

Stating that the Alawites in Syria were targeted only by being associated with the Baath regime, Aslan said, “So yesterday, ‘my brother Assad, my friend Assad’ suddenly became ‘Assad’, ‘murderer’, ‘dictator’ after 2010. Since 2010, the Alawites in Syria have been facing oppression, persecution, hunger and misery.”

Drawing attention to the role of radical groups in Syria, Aslan said, “There is a mentality that we know from Al Qaeda, Al Nusra, ISIS. This mentality is a community that massacres everyone who does not believe like them by mentioning the name of Allah.” Emphasizing that Alevi institutions in Türkiye called for a peaceful solution, Aslan said, “We advocated for the peoples to live together in Syria. The democratic future of Syria should be determined by the society living there.”

"THERE ARE ALEVI MASSACRES" CHP Hatay Deputy Servet Mullaoğlu also said, "Unfortunately, the situation in Syria is not good at all. There are massacres that are mind-boggling. It has decreased to some extent now, but people are still being massacred just because they are Alevi."

"IT WAS FORBIDDEN TO EVEN TALK ABOUT SECTS" Stating that the claims that the Alawites were in power during the Assad era in Syria did not reflect the truth, Mullaoğlu said, “As if there was an Alawite administration in Syria. A big lie. Assad’s family is Alawite, but twenty-eight of the thirty-two-person cabinet were Sunni.” Stating that sectarian discourse was forbidden in the country, Mullaoğlu said, “It was forbidden to even talk about sects in Syria. It was a state that claimed to be secular.”

Mullaoğlu, who argued that the massacres that increased during the HTS period were not specific to this period, said, “Not only during the HTS period, but for the last fourteen years, Alevi students, Alevi officers, Alevi police officers have been massacred.”

Mullaoğlu, who emphasized the importance of secularism in his speech, said, “When we see these developments, we understand once again how important the principle of secularism brought by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is. Religion and state affairs must be separated.”

"WE LEARNED WHEN ERDOĞAN SAID 'MINORITY'" 27th Term HDP MP Kenanoğlu criticized the definition of the overthrown Assad administration as an "Alevi state". Kenanoğlu said, "It was not a Shiite Alevi state or anything. When did we learn about Assad's Aleviness? When did conflict break out in Syria, Tayyip Erdoğan said 'These are minority Alevi governments'. We learned that then."
